Overview

How TWINJAM works with NetSuite

Multi-office agencies and consultancies usually treat NetSuite as the financial system of record, often with SuiteProjects for project accounting. If change orders live outside it, revenue recognition and project margin reports drift from what delivery teams see. TWINJAM connects through NetSuite's REST web services and keeps the two aligned.

When a change order is signed, TWINJAM updates the project's budget and creates the billing record your finance team prefers, such as a sales order line or a billing milestone, with the change order number and SOW clause for audit. It reads project actuals and billed amounts back, so realization and margin forecasts in TWINJAM reconcile to NetSuite rather than to a separate spreadsheet.

NetSuite deployments vary, so the Scale plan includes a configuration session with your NetSuite administrator to map subsidiaries, project records, items and custom fields before any write is enabled. Until then, the connection runs read-only.

In practice

A migration that found another database

Mid-migration, an IT consultancy discovers a legacy data source excluded from schedule B. The signed $18,400 change order updates the NetSuite project budget by 112 hours and adds a sales order line, so the CFO's margin report matches what delivery sees.

The payload on the right is the event TWINJAM emits to your triage feed and to outbound webhooks, so you can route it into your own reporting.

Setup

Connect NetSuite in one guided session, typically 60 to 90 minutes with your NetSuite admin.

An admin connects once. PMs never need to re-authenticate, and you can revoke access from TWINJAM or the vendor's admin console at any time.

  1. 1Your NetSuite admin creates an integration record and a dedicated TWINJAM role.
  2. 2Connect with OAuth 2.0 from TWINJAM and confirm the account ID and subsidiary.
  3. 3Map client contracts to NetSuite customers and projects, and change orders to an item.
  4. 4Run read-only for one billing cycle, then enable write-back after finance sign-off.

FAQ

NetSuite integration questions

Project records, budgets and actuals for mapped projects. Customers, subsidiaries and items for mapping. Billing status for records TWINJAM created. It never reads: general ledger detail, payroll or employee compensation; records outside the integration role's permissions; vendor bills and purchasing.
